
Soestdijk Palace: an iconic monument in transition
The starting point for the new destination of Paleis Soestdijk is to develop the estate in a coherent manner, in such a way that the unique character of the ensemble remains intact. The iconic quality and the special beauty of Landgoed Paleis Soestdijk are thus restored and preserved for the future, and a new layer is added programmatically.
Major maintenance work begins at Soestdijk Palace: Construction and Restoration Company Van de Burgt & Strooij appointed as main contractor
Soestdijk Palace is preparing for the future. Maintenance work on the facade and roofs of this iconic monument will begin in mid-September 2025. The restoration and renovation of the Palace is expected to begin in mid-September 2026. Construction and Restoration Company Van de Burgt & Strooij, an experienced specialist in historical heritage, has been selected to carry out the work.
Not only the Palace itself will be renovated, but the national monument, the Needle of Waterloo, will also undergo maintenance in mid-September 2025. The work will be carried out in phases and will take several years.
This will safeguard Soestdijk Palace for future generations, with respect for its cultural-historical value.
The Palace will remain open for exhibitions and events during major maintenance, restoration, and renovation.
